A Governor Who Participates in the
Film IndustryGovernor Arne Carlson and members of the Minnesota Film Board traveled to Los Angeles in March to meet with producer John Davis when they heard Warner Bros. was thinking about shooting "Grumpier Old Men" here. "Grumpy Old Men" had been lensed in Minnesota several winters ago.
"I was impressed," Davis said of Carlson's pitch. "When the Governor of a state comes to your office and basically says, 'We want you to shoot in Minnesota. What do you want?' you know you're going to get the cooperation you need to make a movie."
