Each year the Film/TV Board hosts a professional educational seminar for local TV producers. In 2001 over 150 attended the seminar
"Minnesota TV: Building on our Success." National TV programmers were brought in to discuss the new directions their network and TV in general is going, what they look for in a show and how to frame an effective pitch. Local TV producers discussed how they broke into the business, what worked for them and what didn't. The day also featured a pitch session in which members of the audience got to pitch their sitcom, reality series or documentary project to the national programmers, who then briefly critiqued their ideas and presentation.
