Peter Fonda, Kris Kristofferson, Keith Carradine, Joseph Mazzello star in the Minnesota/North Dakota feature WOOLY BOYS.
Producer Robert Schwartz (IRON WILL) has returned to the Midwest to film the independent feature film WOOLY BOYS which begins shooting today in the North Dakota Badlands.
Peter Fonda leads the cast which also includes Kris Kristofferson, Keith Carradine and Joseph Mazzello (JURASSIC PARK; in Minnesota, THE CURE). Fonda plays a sheepherder who, with the aid of grizzled partner Kristofferson, helps his city-bred grandson (Mazzello) regain his lost childhood on the plains of North Dakota.
Peter Fonda has garnered two Academy Award nominations in his distinguished career: Best Screenplay for EASY RIDER (1970) and Best Actor for ULEE'S GOLD (1998). WOOLY BOYS is being directed by Leszek Burzynski, and produced by Mr. Schwartz and Julie Hartley for Wardenclyffe Entertainment. The largely Minnesota cast and crew will film three weeks in North Dakota before returning for approximately two weeks of shooting in Minneapolis. Minnesota actors Michael Booth, R. Vincent Moniz, Wayne Evenson, Lana Schab, James Cada, Stephen Yoakam and T. Mychael Rambo also have supporting roles in the film.
WOOLY BOYS is scheduled for release in the spring of 2001. It is the 70th film to be completely or partially shot in Minnesota since 1990; these 70 projects have brought more $115,000,000 in new revenues and $10,000,000 in state and local tax revenues to Minnesota. Minnesota's last major film SUGAR & SPICE will be released by New Line Cinema in January 2001; Minnesota indie feature BILL'S GUN SHOP was selected for screening on September 22nd at the Independent Feature Film Market in New York City.
