The Starlite Drive-In :: Litchfield, MN

The Starlite Drive-In originally opened in 1952 during the beginning of drive-in fever in America. By the late 1950s Minnesota was home to nearly 80 drive-in theatres, 91% of which have since been abandoned or been demolished. The Starlite Drive-in went "dark" in 1981. It stood empty until 1998 when it was restored by owner Tim Eiler. Of the seven remaining drive-in theatres in Minnesota, The Starlite is by far the largest — it has four screens each showing a double feature.
