    The Uptown Theatre :: Minneapolis, MN

    Originally built in 1916 as the Lagoon Theatre, the theatre was sorely in need of updating by the late 1930's. The architectural firm of Liebengerg & Kaplan were selected to completely remodel the Uptown beginning in 1937. The major change and newest feature was the striking 60 foot vertical sign tower — still the definitive landmark of the neighborhood.
